Dr Cróchán O’Sullivan discusses advances in cardiology on RTÉ Today for World Heart Day

Consultant Cardiologist Dr Cróchán O’Sullivan joined the presenters of RTÉ’s Today programme as part of World Heart Day.

During the programme, Dr O’Sullivan discussed developments in the treatment of coronary artery disease, including the evolving role of drug-coated balloons and how, in selected patients, these can allow cardiologists to treat narrowed coronary arteries without permanently implanting a stent.

The discussion also explored coronary stents, how interventional cardiology has evolved over recent decades, and some of the innovations that may shape cardiovascular treatment in the years ahead.

World Heart Day provides an opportunity to raise awareness of cardiovascular disease and the importance of prevention, early diagnosis and effective treatment.
